Tattoo Removal in Chilliwack: What to Expect

Laser tattoo removal works by sending very short pulses of light into the skin. The ink absorbs that energy and breaks into tiny pieces, and over the following weeks your body slowly clears them away. Each session lightens the tattoo a little more, which is why removal takes a series of visits and not just one.

At Sequoia we use the ClearLift, part of the Alma platform we also use for skin treatments. Your first visit is a conversation and an assessment. We look at the size, colours, age and placement of your tattoo, check your skin, and tell you how many sessions to expect and what the result could realistically look like.

If a tattoo is unlikely to fade fully, we say so before you book. You can then decide with the facts in front of you.

Clear advice and steady progress.
Your Treatment

What Happens From First Visit to Last

Every tattoo is different, but the process looks like this for most people.

CONSULTATION

We Look at Your Tattoo

We check the size, ink colours, age and placement, ask about your health, medications and recent sun exposure, and talk about what you want. Some people want the tattoo gone. Others want it lighter for a cover up. The plan is different for each.

TREATMENT

The Laser Session

We protect your eyes, clean the area and pass the ClearLift over the tattoo. Most sessions are quick, though larger pieces take longer. Many clients describe it as a sharp snap, like a rubber band, and it passes fast.

AFTERCARE

Healing at Home

The area can look red, swollen or frosted white afterwards. We cover it and send you home with clear instructions. Keep it clean, keep it out of the sun and leave any scabs or blisters alone.

THE WAIT

Time Between Sessions

We space visits about 6 to 8 weeks apart. That gives your body time to clear the ink and your skin time to recover. Booking sessions closer together does not speed things up and raises the risk of skin problems.

What Affects Results

Why No Two Tattoos Fade the Same

We can give you a better estimate once we see your tattoo in person. These are the things we look at.

INK COLOUR

Colour Changes the Pace

Black and dark blue ink usually fade the fastest. Greens, light blues, yellows and white ink need more patience and may not clear completely.

AGE

Older Tattoos Often Fade Easier

Tattoos that have had years to settle usually respond better than new ones. If yours is recent, we tell you how long to wait until it has fully healed.

SIZE AND DEPTH

Dense Ink Takes More Visits

Large, heavily shaded or layered tattoos hold more ink and need more sessions than a small, light line drawing.

PLACEMENT

Where It Sits Matters

Tattoos closer to the heart, like the chest and upper arm, tend to fade faster than those on the hands, feet and ankles.

SKIN TONE

We Check Your Skin First

We adjust the laser to your skin tone and tell you if there is added risk of the skin lightening or darkening. A fresh tan means waiting before treatment.

THE TATTOO ITSELF

Studio or Home Made

Hand poked and home made tattoos often hold less ink and sit shallower, so they can fade sooner than dense studio work. We assess each one on its own.

Before and After

What Gradual Fading Looks Like

A tattoo does not vanish in one visit. It lightens a little more with each session, until the ink is faded as far as your skin allows. Every tattoo moves at its own pace, so at your assessment we show you what is realistic for yours.

Aftercare

Looking After Your Skin Between Sessions

What you do after a session affects how well you heal and how clean the next session goes. We go through all of this with you before you leave, and you can always call or message us with questions.

Keep It Clean

Wash gently with mild soap and pat dry. Do not scrub the area.

Protect It From Sun

Cover the area outdoors, and use sunscreen once the skin has healed.

Leave Blisters Alone

Do not pick scabs or pop blisters. It can scar the skin and slow the fading.

Skip Soaks and Heat

Avoid hot tubs, pools, saunas and heavy sweating until the skin settles.

The Honest Numbers
Sessions and Cost

How Many Sessions and What It Costs.

Nobody can give you an honest session count from a photo alone. After we assess your tattoo in person, you will know the likely number of visits and the price per session before you start.

Number of Sessions

Most tattoos need somewhere between 5 and 10 sessions. Small, light, older tattoos can need fewer. Large, dark or colourful pieces can need more.

↗

Time Between Visits

Expect about 6 to 8 weeks between sessions, so a full series can run from several months to a year or more.

↗

What Sets the Price

Size sets the price, from $110 for an extra small area up to $320 for a large one. We confirm the size of your tattoo at your assessment.

↗

Fading for a Cover Up

If a tattoo artist is going to cover your old piece, you may only need a few sessions to lighten it. Ask your artist how light it needs to be.

Questions About Tattoo Removal

How much does laser tattoo removal cost in Chilliwack?

Tattoo removal is priced per session by the size of the area: $110 for extra small (up to 2 inches), $199 for small (up to 4 inches), $265 for medium (up to 6 inches) and $320 for large (up to 8 inches). We confirm your size and the likely number of sessions at your assessment.

How many sessions of tattoo removal will I need?

Most tattoos need about 5 to 10 sessions, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. Small, light and older tattoos can need fewer, while large, dark or colourful ones can need more. We give you a realistic estimate at your assessment.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

Most people feel a quick, sharp snap, similar to a rubber band flicked against the skin. It is uncomfortable but brief. Sensitive areas can feel stronger, and we tell you what to expect for your placement.

Can you remove tattoos with colour?

The ClearLift works on many ink colours. Black and dark blue usually fade fastest. Green, light blue, yellow and white ink can be slower and may not clear fully. We look at your tattoo and tell you what to expect.

Will my tattoo disappear completely?

Many tattoos fade a great deal, and some clear almost completely, but we cannot promise that. Ink colour, depth, age and your skin all play a part. We tell you honestly what is likely before you book.

Can I fade a tattoo for a cover up?

Yes. Lightening an old tattoo gives a tattoo artist more room to work. Ask your artist how light the old piece needs to be, bring that to your assessment, and we plan the number of sessions around it.

What should I do after a session?

Keep the area clean, covered and out of the sun. Do not pick scabs or pop blisters, and avoid hot tubs, pools and saunas until the skin has settled. We go through full aftercare with you at the end of your appointment.

Can darker or tanned skin be treated?

Often yes, but we check your skin first and adjust the laser settings. Darker or freshly tanned skin has a higher risk of colour changes, so we may ask you to wait if you have a recent tan. We explain the risks clearly.

Is there anything that means I should wait?

Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medication that makes skin sensitive to light, have a fresh tan or sunburn, or tend to form raised scars. Any of these can mean waiting or a different plan.
